This department’s core functions includes managing the State’s socio-economic and development planning system deciding what State plans should be produced, as well as translating and adapting federal, economic and development policies.
The department researches and produces socio-economic and development policy papers in collaboration with the State Economic Council. They also oversee and guide the State government in strategic and macro-economic policy making including interpreting and fleshing out the policy agenda of government.
Their function goes further to translating and interpreting for State use, planning policy and guidelines from Federal level and producing overall plan guidance frameworks on the scope, content and process of plans. They facilitate and support planning in Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) thereby producing integrated State plans.
